Job Title: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER- GRADE AD 10 ( 5 months fixed -term contract)
Location: Johannesburg, ZA

Department Description
The School of Mathematics invites applications for appointment to a temporary position of Administrative Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective administration and evaluation of key academic administrative tasks and processes as well as providing administrative support, as required by the Head of School and Senior Administrative Office.

Brief Description

Minimum qualifications/requirements/criteria:
Grade 12, a relevant qualification in Administration would be an advantage.
Three years of relevant experience in an administrative role at the University (or tertiary educational sector) will be advantageous.
Must be highly computer literate in MS Office, E-mail, Internet, database experience and knowledge of ORACLE/WAMS.
Display high levels of initiative.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
Ability to work independently in a pressured environment and meet deadlines.
Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
Must have an understanding of the higher education sector, as well as knowledge of the University’s systems and procedures.

Key job functions include:
Capturing all test marks, assignments and examination marks.
Dissemination of marks to Faculties, Schools and Departments.
Assists with maintaining contact with students by handling telephonic, written and walk-in student enquiries.
Responsible for all aspects of student marks, records and liaising with Course Coordinators.
Produce information for reports on academic information for staff
Organizing lecture and tutorial venues.
Perform any other general duties as allocated by the Head of School.
