Laundry Assistant
Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Laundry Assistant based at Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga, reporting to the Services Manager, Nicolette Mieny.
The successful candidate will be responsible for collection, handling, washing and distribution of linen throughout the units.
Critical Outputs
- Collection of linen from the units
- Distribution of linen to all units in the facility
- Packing of linen for transport to and from central laundry
- Cleaning, mopping and dusting in laundry
- Cleaning of laundry equipment
- Control the linen levels in units according to requirements
- Control the quality of the linen distributed and received
- Accuracy in daily counting of linen
- Stock take of linen to be done as required
- Neatness and cleanliness of linen store room required
- Keeping accurate records of totals of linen collected and distributed in units
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Previous hospital laundry experience essential
- Knowledge of infection control, health and safety procedures and disaster management an advantage
- Excellent communication and problem-solving
- Be able to work under pressure
- Must be able to handle the physical demands of a labour intensive function
- Eager to learn new systems and accept challenges
- Be self started and have the ability to work independently
- Team player and be very energetic
- Person must be customer focused
- A good relationship skill is necessary
- Able to work flexible times, night shift and week-ends
- Accuracy with figures for stock counts
