{"id":739,"date":"2023-07-27T17:36:12","date_gmt":"2023-07-27T17:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sendcv.creativemindz.co.za\/?p=739"},"modified":"2023-07-27T17:36:13","modified_gmt":"2023-07-27T17:36:13","slug":"internship-counselling-psychologist-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sendcv.creativemindz.co.za\/index.php\/2023\/07\/27\/internship-counselling-psychologist-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Internship Counselling Psychologist &#8211; 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"blob:https:\/\/sendcv.creativemindz.co.za\/c9a27829-19f0-4337-8bc6-4638e95dd197\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Internship Counselling Psychologist &#8211; 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2023-07-27 &#8211; 2023-08-18<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TEMP<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>#RU000756<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HEALTH, WELLNESS, FITNESS, MEDICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Location: <\/strong>Eastern Cape, Grahamstown<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stipend: <\/strong>R15 346.22 per month<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Internship Counselling Psychologist &#8211; 2024<\/strong><br><strong>Rhodes University Student Counselling Centre<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responsibilities<br>The Intern psychologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive counselling and psychological support to students.<br>The successful candidate will participate in the following psychological services offered at the Counselling Centre<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Psychotherapy &#8211; of students which may include Individual psychotherapy mostly on a short-term basis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Couple therapy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Group therapy, particularly in response to specific needs of students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family interventions: in support of students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HIV pre and post test counselling for students and staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crisis intervention (As part of a team, this individual would be expected to be available to assist at certain times).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ASSESSMENT of primarily students which may include:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Psychological assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Career assessments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>PSYCHO-EDUCATION:<br>Under the guidance of senior psychologists in the Centre:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development and facilitation of training courses for staff and students on campus (under the guidance of a Senior Psychologist)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development and distribution of information materials<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promotion of health and well-being of students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Minimum Requirements<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For the Intern Psychologist position the job incumbent must currently be studying in their first year of a&nbsp;<strong>Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology<\/strong>&nbsp;at an accredited university.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration as a Student Psychologist with HPCSA<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Required competencies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sound understanding and knowledge of adolescent\/early adulthood development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Genuine interest in working with students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong evidence based counselling and psychotherapeutic skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethical and professional orientation at all times<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sound administrative and organisational skills, able to manage their time efficiently<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sound Computer literacy: able to work with a word processor, spreadsheets, use the internet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop a quick rapport with individuals and be perceived as trustworthy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sound communication (verbal and written) skills in English. An ability to speak isiXhosa would be an advantage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High level of self-awareness, is committed to own development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to gain the trust of others, able to keep confidences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Able to work independently as well as a member of a team<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to crisis intervention facility, this individual must be willing and able to be called out after hours in an emergency (i.e. death of a student); should a psychologist presence be warranted. In addition, the individual must be able to respond to a crisis within 20 minutes of being contacted.
