Field Assistant (Biodiversity Social Projects)
The above position is on a fixed-term contract position up to 31 March 2027, renewable on mutual agreement. The Salary is on a B4 salary band, R 11 823.25 Salary + R 2 426.12 housing allowance per month as the incumbent will be staying outside the Park. Own accommodation should be provided.

Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate or NQF level 4
- Code 08 driver’s license
- Computer Literacy in MS Office
- 2 Years’ experience with contracting teams/management of personnel
- Experience in health and safety management and compliance
- Experience in invasive alien plant clearing.
- At least 1 year experience in Fall Arrest/Rope Access work (IRATA/Tree felling/Wilderness Rope Access).
- Physically and mentally fit
Responsibilities
- Assist with project-related planning
- Assist with the management and mentoring of EPWP contractors
- Ensure the management of quality, production and monitoring of task-based operations linked to the project
- Ensure compliance with program standards/norms and Health and Safety requirements
- Assist with mapping and data recording for the project linked to activities
- Assist with administrative tasks
- Report on project progress
- Communicate and liaise with relevant stakeholders
- Conduct infield inspections where teams are working which includes Fall arrest /Rope access accessible areas.
- Conduct weekly inspections of Rope Access Equipment/PPE and PPC in order to comply with standards and procedures.
- Assist with monthly Stock / Asset verification(s) of BSP WfW HAT equipment.
Please Note
- A fitness test will be part of the recruitment process and will require the applicant to undergo a PACK Fitness test (Arduous Level – 4.8km walk carrying 20kg backpack to be completed in 45 minutes).
- Successful applicants will be required to undergo and fully complete Wilderness Rope Access level 1 training.
